The original wording has not been altered.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity is-style-dots\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Abstract<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In these notes, Roberto Assagioli sketches four stages of temporal awareness: primitive immersion in the moment, the average person&#8217;s preoccupation with past and future, the mystic&#8217;s retreat into the eternal, and the spiritually integrated individual&#8217;s grasp of cyclic manifestation. He describes how cosmic cycles, major and minor, unfold God&#8217;s purpose according to a wise plan, and proposes a triple consciousness: watchful of the moment, aware of the cycle, in communion with the eternal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity is-style-dots\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span dir=\"auto\" style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span dir=\"auto\" style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">1. Primitive man lives in the moment, or rather, in a series of &#8216;defined&#8217;, disjointed moments, within a series of sensations which have no continuity.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span dir=\"auto\" style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span dir=\"auto\" style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">2. The average man lives in a period or &#8216;segment&#8217; of time, which could be graphically represented by a line of greater or lesser length with a dot in the middle. His waking consciousness is often preoccupied with the past (memories, nostalgia, regrets) or with the future (desires, hopes, fears, plans).<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span dir=\"auto\" style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span dir=\"auto\" style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">3. The mystic tries to live (and succeeds in doing so for periods of greater or lesser duration) in the eternal, outside of, and above, all that is manifest.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span dir=\"auto\" style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span dir=\"auto\" style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">4.
