A Modern Epictetus: Han Ryner
WE must not be surprised if Han Ryner, the latest follower of Epictetus, is also a gifted poet. Stoicism, which for the reporters of daily papers is a synonym of pathological insensibility, may be a source of great poetry. To believe this it suffices to have read the inspired hymn, in which Cleantus celebrates the harmonious order of the Universe, under the name of Zeus. What, on the contrary, must astonish and delight us is the quality of Han Ryner’s poetry, quite unusual nowadays?
The Art and Technique of Silence
It might seem a contradiction in terms, or at least a paradox, to talk about silence, but actually it isn’t. As with many other pairs of opposites, the two poles of speech and silence aren’t antagonistic; they don’t exclude each other, and both are necessary. Letter of freedom
Letter of Roberto Assagioli sent on November 11-1967, to the presidents, members of the Boards of Directors and other officials of the Foundations, Institutes, and Centers of Psychosynthesis.
About Immortality
The yearning for Immortality is something of primary importance for men. Maybe it is connected to the instinct of self-preservation, or to a wish produced by the fear of death, or maybe a sign, a more or less clear intuition of an essential truth, a glorious reality?

The Decalogue of Wisdom
We found this article of Assagioli in the Archive of the house which has been once his residence and nowadays the headquarters of the Institute of Psychosynthesis. We retained it useful to publish it, despite the outdated language, as an opportunity to reflect for all of us. It contains some teachings of high moral and ethical values, which may or may not be shared, but anyway put us in front of our individual responsibility about what to do with our lives. As Editors, we would appreciate to receive letters and comments about this article in order to open a constructive debate on major issues of contemporary man.
