De syv stråler som meditationsveje og kilder til storhed

27/05/2017 af Kenneth Sørensen

The seven rays and rivers of life live in all that exists and each represents seven meditation paths to the soul. Each is a path to greatness and provides a radical giga-perspective on what energy psychology can lead to.

By Kenneth Sørensen, MA in Psychosynthesis. The article is an introduction to the book Integral Meditation .

Summary:
Disney hero Buzz Lightyear says: “Into infinity and beyond” and this is the main point of the article: that we as humanity are created for greatness. We are in the essence of our being an expression of the great cosmic Life that initiated the Big Bang and continues to drive evolution towards new heights of consciousness. This involves the development of Omniscience, Omnipresence and Omnipotence. Divine attributes that are living dynamics that develop in the heart of all living beings.

In other words, we are on a divine journey, where we gradually achieve perfect insight, love and power to create a new earth. Through seven rays and life streams of spiritual power, love and intelligence, Spirit-in-action – you and me – seeks from the cosmic to the individual level to develop the world towards greater and greater perfection. In the article we will plunge into the different streams of consciousness and explore the relationship to will and power, love and wisdom, freedom and light, harmony and beauty, truth and justice, perfection and surrender, and dignity and synthesis.

Spirit in action and evolution

I have always loved the American thinker Ken Wilber’s concept of “Spirit-in-action”. It is an expression of the universal force that set the Big Bang in motion and continues to drive evolution towards new heights of consciousness. However, it is important to state that it is not something that is happening out there, but something that we are all a living expression of. We are continuously riding the wave of dynamic life force that set it all in motion. Or should I say – We ARE that wave – We ARE Spirit-in-action!

seven rays and meditation

Of course, it’s not always easy to deal with, especially when life is sometimes boring or filled with overwhelming challenges that bring even the strongest to their knees. But who said life was supposed to be easy? Isn’t it when we conquer new territory and move beyond our comfort zone that life can truly be experienced in all its contrast and richness. If only we could cry our hearts out and stay awake in the midst of misery, then life would surely flow a little faster.

In other words, there is something within us that rejects the mediocrity of comfort land and insists on bringing the whole package into play: The backpack of spiritual powers and energies that we have received as a gift of incarnation and which gives us the direct experience of spiritual power, love, clarity, beauty, insight and perfection, and which aims at the unfolding of all our spiritual resources in a creative expression.

It is Spirit-in-action – The One Life , which drives all living beings towards the realization of our inherent oneness; that we are all expressions of one consciousness unfolding through stages of awakening from ego to soul to unity. The Omniscience associated with the realization of oneness is not enough, however. Omnipresence is also necessary. The empathic compassionate identification with all life and creation; getting completely under the skin of all living beings – closer than close. So close that we discover that the one who looks out of your eyes also looks out of mine. The one who loves in your heart also loves in mine.

OK – this seems to push the boundaries far enough into the horizon that we have enough to deal with in this incarnation. It’s just not enough though! There’s a mountain in there that rumbles with power so Omnipotence is also in the package. If it’s Spirit-in-action that gives birth to new solar systems and takes their lives again, then there’s something to live up to! In other words, our inherent nature is to become creators on a larger and larger scale, to exercise power in accordance with evolutionary purpose. To create a new earth that is a true reflection of the highest reality. Call it Utopia, the Kingdom of God on Earth or the Supermind that anchors itself on the physical plane, the task is overwhelming.

However, we have yet to see humans emerge enlightened by omnipotence. What would that look like? Would they have the ability to abolish poverty and establish freedom and justice on a global scale? Would they have the ability to empower humanity so that everyone takes spiritual leadership over their lives? The future will tell.

Buddha greatly manifested omniscience to some extent through his enlightenment and Christ was a sublime exponent of omnipresent love. The spiritual traditions also affirm that we all have Buddha-nature and Christ consciousness within us. So it’s just a matter of getting started. Grab your shovel and dig that gold out of your heart.

OK, now Mount Everest is defined. Or as my favorite hero Buzz Lightyear from Toy Story says: “Into infinity and beyond.” Beyond the limit of infinity, that’s something that moves.

That was the good news – that it is possible. The bad news is that we have no choice 🙂

The seven rays and rivers of life

If the spiritual traditions are right in their visions and that the goal is Perfection (Christ), Enlightenment (Buddha) and Samadhi (Patanjali) – then there is no choice. Not because some God out there has decided it, but because it is our very inherent nature. In other words, we have decided it ourselves! There is no choice in relation to the final destination, the only thing we can decide is how difficult the journey will be. Do we cooperate or do we oppose?

seven rays and meditation

The seven streams of life are expressions of universal truths found in all world religions. The Indian sage, Aurobindo, expresses it this way: the manifestation of the universe occurs as a result of “an unlimited stream of heavenly rain – seven rivers flowing down from a supramundane ocean of light, power and joy” (The Yoga of Synthesis).

In other words, we are invited on a divine river rafting trip. The only problem is that the trip is not with the current but against the current. That is, paradoxically, if we float with the superficial current, life leads us into greater materialism and identification with the consumerism of mainstream culture, where we derive identity from things we possess and consume.

If we turn to the deeper current at the heart of all being, we often move towards the cultural current – we find identity in a greater existential resonance with the deeper pulse of life, where becoming a co-creator of life and not just a consumer of life – gives life meaning. What we create is the good, the true and the beautiful life for the whole. In other words, we make a difference. We contribute to developing greater awareness in what we are engaged in. We draw our deepest inspiration from the stronger and stronger undercurrent of life’s unbreakable unity. We open closed hearts. We let the light of freedom into our relationships.

seven rays and meditationIn other words, we become culture creators – right in the middle of the family and at the workplace – by connecting the vertical axis (head in the sky and feet on the ground) with the horizontal axis (the great flowing heart).

Here we are talking about a life practice where meditation, study and community engagement are central rituals for capturing the deeper flow of life, but this is not my concern here and now. Instead, I want to delve into the seven rivers – into the greater river of the One Life – that Aurobindo speaks of.

The seven rivers, seven rays, seven spirits before the throne of God, seven types of energy – dear child, they have many names, and it is recommended to buy my book: Integral Meditation if you want to know more. It is quite obvious that most of the great spiritual traditions have had an esoteric understanding of these seven rays. The question now is: how does the connection between the universal and individual level arise? The answer can be expressed in the hermetic principle: “as above, so below”. That is, the whole is always reflected in the part.

The seven rivers are seven currents of spiritual power in the universal consciousness and they become the seven psychological and spiritual functions of human consciousness. We, along with others, have inherited the ability to create life because we fundamentally ARE life – The One Life. Let me briefly give an overview of these creative abilities and the energy psychology approach before moving on to the larger perspectives that are my main concern in this article.

The seven psychological functions express their energies through both the seven brain centers and the seven chakras known within the energy psychological philosophy. We call them energy types because the functions unfold energies through the will, the feeling, the thought, the imagination, the logic, the passion and the body. The energy types/functions also manifest themselves as seven types of behavior: dynamic, sensitive, mental, creative, analytical, dedicated and practical behavior. They also unfold as psychological core talents, that is, abilities for: leadership, spaciousness, overview, harmony, knowledge, commitment and efficiency. However, they also have their higher spiritual and transpersonal expression when we have awakened to those dimensions.

From the energy typology, let’s now dive into the seven rays and see what we need to master to have the great joyride as co-creators of a new earth.

The First Ray: Power, Force and Will

seven rays and meditationThe first ray is dynamic and brings us into contact with our ability to take control of our lives and unfold our identity through creative power.

We all have power and we use it! However, we often have such a hard time owning it and standing by it that it becomes taboo and has to seek refuge in the shadows. Power can often be linked to sex, money, knowledge, beauty, physical strength and roles in life. Power is basically about being able to exert influence on others, although it naturally also involves the ability to control oneself.

There is only one will – the universal will – but the living stream of power flows through all living beings – in other words we become stewards of the power until we reach the non-dual level where we become omnipotent. One with the universal will and power. The will to enlightenment, the will to love and unity. This is where we give birth to supernovae JNow – back to the local duck pond – the everyday level of consciousness.

The first stage that we must learn to master against omnipotence is to take leadership over our own lives. Say YES! to life with all its challenges and have the victim consciousness pulverized – by loving the whole package and focusing our forces. No will without goals. The goals we choose tell who we are. Therefore, the will is closely linked to the unfolding of our identity, because our actions – mentally-emotionally and physically are an expression of who we choose to be.

When the will to power is immature and unowned, we feel a hole inside. We become powerless and look for strength outside ourselves. Who and what can fill the void? The need for popularity, status and affirmation becomes existential for our survival and like another vampire, we suck and suck on other people’s life energy. And they suck and suck on ours. This is where we begin to manipulate our surroundings and use our power to fill our hole. Who can deny that?

At some point we wake up to the impotence of this whole enterprise and turn the life energy around. An inner dignity awakens to life in the heart of our being. It is a king and queen consciousness that refuses to identify with the addiction that makes us weak junkies, unconsciously going from fix to fix.

Welcome to freedom, it says from the depths of the heart. YEAAHHH we respond. And death enters our lives. We realize the necessity of taking the life of all our dependencies. Pulling the projections home. Establishing free relationships with the surroundings based on responsibility and an open love that insists that the other’s freedom is also mine.

Ego death has entered life, for we find that the self-centered consciousness is the greatest prison for us to become truly free agents of the universal life force. There is simply something so great in there that the ego coat becomes ridiculous. Of course we retain a strong personality through which life can unfold, but we do not identify with the overcoat.

It is crystal clear that life is no longer about ME – as a separate self-centered human being, but about taking leadership of the unique function I have in the One Life. That is, developing the talents and resources I possess to perfection and unfolding them in a committed creative life.

We must say YES to becoming powerful and exerting influence in the world. Take up the fight against the forces that try to enslave humanity in ignorance, despotism and materialism. In other words, we must, together with other good forces, take power over the Earth by increasing our influence in the world through the will to the good of the whole. Most of us shy away from power because we are afraid of it, but wouldn’t we help 100,000 people if we had the power to do so?

The will to power is the dynamic focus of the heart that the first ray stimulates in us. It gathers all our resources and talents around the purpose of the One life—a united humanity. It leads to the sacrifice of identification with one self-centered need after another, because they make us weak and dependent. By surrendering to the will to the good, the true, and the beautiful, we tap into the dynamic pulse of evolution itself.  The dynamic type of energy that emanates from the will is the psychological function that develops this process.

The question is: How powerful do we dare to become?

The Second Ray: Love, Wisdom and Unity

The second ray stimulates us to continuously expand the boundaries of our sensitivity and identification with all other life forms.

seven rays and meditation

It leads to universal presence, which is an expression of the One Life’s pervasive presence in all the diverse beings of creation. Where omnipotence is related to will, omnipresence is an expression of universal love.

But what is love? From the energy psychology approach to life, love runs as an inner cohesive force that is omnipresent, and which continuously seeks to unite all that is separated: opening the closed hearts. It is simply eco-balance in nature, cohesiveness in man and society, an expression of the insistent feminine flow that wants to belong – everywhere and in everything.

Love can be experienced more or less omnipresent, depending on the consciousness that interprets it. Egocentric love focuses primarily on oneself and does not awaken to the realization of the subtle interconnectedness that exists between all people. We believe that what we think and experience is unique to us, but completely overlook the fact that the content of consciousness is largely collective. We share thoughts, feelings and sensations in one go, and are deeply influenced by the psychological state that exists in our network and the world around us. Oneness is a fact, we just haven’t awakened to it.

It doesn’t matter what we think about others and vice versa, and the more we awaken to the sensitive consciousness that love is, the more we understand that we cannot choose the world from, only to. We can choose to live in the foreign and the unpleasant, by identifying with the other, through the part of us that is related to the other. We contain all of humanity within us and through the compassionate understanding and wisdom we succeed in breaking through the veil of separateness and becoming omnipresent in our inclusivity.

Immature love only loves what it superficially likes. What is pleasant, nice and keeps us in the comfort zone. All the unpleasant elements are put in the inner “junk box” (the unconscious, which is actually a treasure chest) and projected onto the surroundings. The shadow side of love is hate! Attraction and repulsion are a clear characteristic of ego-love, they are two sides of the same energy. When love is not universal, it is precisely partial, everything that cannot be contained, everything that we cannot identify with is split off through the minus pole of limited love – hate, which we distance ourselves from.

However, there is an ocean in the heart that insists on the boundless empathy, and which makes it possible to love another person as one’s special partner, without it ending in duality. To love the family and the nation without it ending in clan consciousness. To love humanity without it excluding the other kingdoms of nature, let alone the entire cosmos. It is a love that simply says YES to whatever arises in consciousness and that loves all unpleasant and foreign impressions into the light. Hate is egocentric love at its extreme pole, rejecting everything that must not be there, but which can open a door to greater love when we embrace the unwanted. Fear can therefore lead to trust. Anger two power. Greed to generosity. The greater love can precisely embrace the lesser and redeem it through the light that exists in all states.

Omnipresence is the ability to be present in everything we encounter on our path – inside as well as outside – and recognize that it is also me. When we surrender to this ocean, we break down one boundary after another and create coherence and cohesion in all our relationships.

The sensitive energy type is the psychological function that gradually expands our sensitivity from the separate to the universal.

The Third Ray: Clarity, Unboundness, and Light

If there is a great life that connects all of existence – if Spirit-in-action is one living reality, then there must also be an understanding and an omniscience that explains how all of existence is one great living intelligent organism. In other words, there must be a theory of everything. A perspective that encompasses all that is. What clarity there would be in such a meta-perspective – if we could see the world as the all-seeing eye, high above the incredible complexity of life. See the anthill from above.

That clarity arises when we radically dare to let go of the perspectives with which we have identified ourselves. When we dare to let go of the little favorite definitions of the intellect and take a step back into pure observation of reality. When we realize in a clear light the difference between reality itself and all our interpretations of it. Omniscience presupposes that we dare to become the transcendent vast sky, which sees all phenomena in an unbounded light without preferring one over the other. But simply sees reality as it is – not as we could wish it to be.

In that light, it is clearly revealed that the universe is intelligent. There is an incredible lawfulness and order that governs everything, from the smallest particles to the dazzling display of supernovae.

When we are identified with the intellect and the likes and dislikes of emotional life, all our experiences are colored by our personal attitude towards them. We do not see the whole because we interpret experience in the light of our own self-centered needs. When, on the other hand, we learn to let reality be as it is, we see the incredible complexity of life in its own intelligent nature and can begin to sense how everything is woven together in an incredible network of interconnected relationships. There is cause and effect, but we must step completely out of context to see this order.

It is from this context that new universal philosophies and ideas are formulated by the world’s enlightened thinkers, so that the world community gradually becomes a holistic reflection of the inner reality. If the Earth is one living organism and humanity one large family, then the economic, political and cultural realities must reflect this unity in diversity. However, this requires that we can step out of the separatism of ego-consciousness. The third life stream stimulates us to do this.

Where the will gathers everything into a dynamic focus of strong identity and love identifies with everything through empathy, pure awareness disidentifies itself from all form, for only through the transcendent emptiness can all that exists in this emptiness be seen clearly.

If we want to find the freedom that is seen through the web of life, it requires a special kind of radicalism, where we let go of the personal perspective and see ourselves and the world in a universal light. One of the most well-known meditation practices in the East is to let go of everything that arises in the mind of thoughts, images, feelings and sensations and turn our observation towards the source of consciousness itself. The vast sky within.

What light is revealed in this presence – an eternally static NOW – where past, present and future meet in a point of pure waking consciousness. We awaken – as Buddha did. And what incredible knowledge the awakening unleashes – an insight into intelligence itself. The ordered, law-based universe is revealed, as well as how we can weave this order into the many contexts of everyday life, so that humanity becomes one large well-integrated nervous system. The Internet is an example in this regard.

In other words, there is something that insists on awakening to this unique intelligence that life is an expression of. Now, few of us are fully awakened Buddhas, so where do we start?

We start in consciousness and with the help of the mind’s inner eye we begin to distinguish between the observer and the observed. We begin to consistently relativize our fixed interpretations and beliefs about ourselves and the life around us. We begin to study life, look at it a little from above and observe what makes us act, feel and think the way we do. Through this we discover that what we think becomes habit, character and destiny . There is cause and effect.

Dis-identification should not make us passive observers of life, for then we do not listen to the dynamic pulse of life, or the insistent coherence of love. There is something inside that wants something, something that wants to love, but from the clearest point of light and overview. In that clarity we are inspired – here we can truly create new connections in culture and harness intelligence through sharp and compassionate thinking.

The mental energy type is the psychological function that illuminates and is illuminated through one larger overview after another. Thinking is the primary creative tool that creates new cultural forms out of the genius of silence and the knowledge of universal laws. The created universe is not perfect in the light of the highest order, but it is our task to bring this higher order down to everyday life.

Will, love and luminous intelligence are the three fundamental rays in human consciousness and, for that matter, in all existence. According to esotericism, they are the triad that creates dynamics, coherence and creative expression. The four other forces are composite sisters of the three and all have the purpose of creating creative expressions of divine will, love and intelligence. To refine, shape and organize life on earth so that it becomes a living expression of the three.

The Fourth Ray: Harmony, Beauty and Balance

seven rays and meditationAs we delve into the fourth stream, we experience the irresistible urge to create beauty and harmony on all levels of consciousness – from the physical to the psychological and spiritual.

Heaven and earth are created, the transcendent and the manifest. As incarnate living beings in this universe, we have gradually awakened to the fact that although the world is in many ways fantastic in all its diversity, it is far from perfect. There is, first and foremost, suffering in the world. It hurts to be here, but it is also wonderful. One polarity after another is revealed – pain and pleasure, love and hate, wealth and poverty, darkness and light.

We are somehow crucified in these polarities. We run here and there to avoid the pain and experience the beauty, the harmony, the love. … until the day dawns when we grasp the deeper undercurrent and go directly into the conflict and darkness to learn about it. Intuitively we sense that there is beauty in the ugliness, harmony in the conflict, and love in the pain. The fourth ray has also been called harmony through conflict because it teaches us to unite the polarities by developing the consciousness that includes the poles.

It is not about how you feel, but how you take it, as it is called. Poverty is only a suffering if it is involuntary, and for a sanyasi or a Franciscan, poverty is the greatest wealth. Pain is only suffering when it is avoided. When it is embraced in the heart, it opens up compassion, humility and gratitude towards people and inner forces that spring up when we reach out. Even in the deepest darkness there is light, and how often does it not provoke heroic actions when we are confronted with the harsh realities of life.

The fourth lifestream and energy type awakens us to all the contrasts of life and we understand that the drama of everyday life is an opportunity to develop greater love and wisdom. Whatever we encounter can expand our ability to embrace it, harmonize it and bring a deeper and deeper beauty into life. Only in contrast to the darkness does light emerge, which is what all the great arts are living illustrations of. There will always be darkness. What we call the highest ethics today will be medieval darkness in a thousand years. Spirit-in-action will always drive development towards greater universal heights, so that the scope of love will expand from egocentric to ethnocentric, worldcentric and cosmocentric care.

The life flow of beauty and harmony will stimulate us to continuously throw ourselves into life’s new adventures and integrate it with what already exists. Every moment holds the opportunity for new experiences, if we dare to enter life like a playful child, dare to enter the unknown landscape that exists everywhere we go. In the spontaneous now, we break all boundaries and get close to other people from a completely new angle. We say the unpredictable. Act surprisingly and evoke completely new relationships with ourselves and life.

WOW – what a blissful trip when we dare to be new. Dare to embrace the anxiety when all familiar contours fade into the unforeseen next moment. When we swim with the surface current we will seek balance in the familiar, in the comfort zone and in the unbearable ease of existence. The heroic soul, however, will prefer the pain of development when we stretch beyond our limits, rather than being the walking dead in the treadmill of life. The heroic soul dies daily through every single abandonment of satisfaction.

The fourth undercurrent takes the whole backpack into use, into all corners of life. Hatred and rage are just as interesting to experience as surrendering love. It is enlightenment through experience and empathy. The fourth ray’s gift to humanity is the very staging of all the dramas of life, so that we all have the opportunity to choose our roles and play them optimally. This is beauty, to let all of life emerge in all its nuances.

The creative energy type is the psychological function that brings beauty and harmony into all our relationships and living conditions.

The Fifth Ray: Truth, Justice, and Exact Knowledge

What is truth? What is reality? We live in a time where truth is largely relative and where everything is up for debate. There is nothing that is more right than anything else. Everyone must find their own truth, is the mantra of the times. But from the perspective of timeless wisdom, there are universal truths around which reality is built. He who builds on these principles builds his house on rock.

If it is true that evolution aims to develop greater and greater consciousness, love and wisdom, then no individual can escape this law. Therefore, there is also something that is more true than another. The greater the love a perspective contains, the more truth there is in it.

The fifth universal ray creates a ceaseless inner search for all that is true and real. It creates exact science, where we test and experiment until we can precisely define the universal laws and adjust ourselves accordingly. The third lifestream developed the great panoramic overview, whereas the fifth goes all the way down to the individual parts. Reveals how the whole is made up of parts and how we can refine the properties of these parts. In this way, we create completely new knowledge and products that refine and elevate what nature provides as completely basic elements. The opposite, of course, also applies, that we create destructive effects because we think and create from narrow and egocentric interests.

We are inhabitants of an intelligent universe, and by knowing the laws of intelligence we can accurately predict cause and effect for every single tiny part. However, there are not only physical laws, but also psychological and spiritual laws. One of the most important is that energy follows thought. What we think as individuals and groups manifests itself in emotional moods and expresses itself in physical actions, which create the outer physical life we live in. Thus, everyone – human as well as group – is the creator of his own reality.

In other words, there are cold, clear facts behind every event. Where there is an effect, there is a cause. Every time we ask the question why, we can either go with the flow and float along with the easy explanations of victim consciousness. However, we can also turn directly to the unpleasant effects in our lives and examine them thoroughly until the cause is clear. In that light, we can take responsibility, make a new intention (cause) and consciously provoke new effects.

The immature version of this current is the narrow-minded and critical rejection of everything that one has not factually experienced. It is the ignoring of the fact that the vast majority of great discoveries have started with an intuition – a belief that has been relentlessly pursued and tested until it has become a recognized truth. In this way, science and mysticism are not opposites but rather worthy partners in cooperation.

The fifth ray develops the diamond light – the cold clear light – which, based on intuition and knowledge of the universal laws, reveals the truth behind the very specific and concrete effects. All other things being equal, it becomes easier to move in the universe when we know the cosmic rules of the road and can create from them. We have free will, yes, but not without consequences. We will always face the effects of the intention behind our actions – as a group and an individual.

Through the development of the diamond light, we discover and invent all the technologies and methods that create new exact knowledge and better living conditions. This makes it possible to heal ailments, organize society and live on the planet in accordance with ecological and universal laws.

The Diamond Light contains precisely that wisdom which is a blend of exact knowledge of the laws applied in compassionate understanding. The cause of suffering is ignorance. The path to happiness is, as a unique individuality, to bring oneself into perfect harmony with the One Life and find one’s true identity and function within this greater whole. It takes truth and exact knowledge to find one’s natural cosmic address. That is the greatest discovery of them all.

The analytical energy type develops the clear cool light that looks behind the unexplained effects and finds the cause. From there, new innovation and ingenuity emerge.

The Sixth Ray: Perfection, Dedication and Transcendence

From the cool currents of the fifth ray universe we must now enter the tropical heat. There is a constant – as it is called – ‘divine discontent’ in the heart of all those who have awakened from material sleep. We sense and sense a perfectly perfect inner order where everything is united in a blissful dynamic love. A love where everything is permeated with holiness and overwhelming cosmic coherence.

This sublime reality creates in intense moments ecstatic peaks that tear the heart apart in longing for more. Everyday life becomes, in the light of perfection, a completely unreasonable place to be, because it is a poorhouse of poverty compared to the abundance of light and bliss in the heavenly realm.

When this current takes hold of us at an immature level, we seek perfection through the surface stream’s pursuit of glamour, substance abuse, and excesses of all kinds. But as one pedestal after another collapses, we gradually move through the fog banks of idealization and wake up from the intoxication. What we thought was light is only a faint material reflection, and gradually we realize that we must dedicate ourselves to the higher values. Those built on rock foundations. We dedicate ourselves to developing spiritual power, love, and light, and shaping our character so that we ourselves become the model we have always longed to follow.

The sixth ray opens the fire of the heart, the devoted surrender to the universal whole of which we are an inseparable part. As a well-known mantra states:

“I am a point of light within a greater light. I am a strand of loving energy within the stream of love Divine. I am a point of sacrificial fire, within the fiery will of God. And thus I stand.”

Whoa, wait a minute! No, we’re not going to become religious fanatics with eyes turned to the sky without juice in our abdomens and hormones in our upper arms. That was the old paradigm!

The fire that burns and ignites us is certainly aimed at the perfect order that we glimpse, but it is also focused on setting our world on fire by pursuing and bringing to life the good, true, and beautiful values. It is a fire that takes us beyond mediocrity and conformity, where we inspire others and ourselves to live themselves to the fullest.

The sixth ray stimulates us to focus all our energies wholeheartedly on the areas where we feel most called. Through this dedication we show who we are and bring our talents and resources to maximum expression. When this current takes hold of us, we must live with the fact that it is never good enough. The transcendent, the guiding star, will always stand as the unattainable goal, continuously moving further and further “into infinity and beyond”.

We become the voice that always points to the perfect, the voice that always destroys the good mood in comfort land. We are surrendered to the transcendent because we intuitively know that it is our true identity. We go after the impossible, the utopian and in that very hopeless movement we stretch far beyond the boundaries that the world has seen as the art of the possible.

We show that the world can become a true reflection of the highest. We insist on justice, truth, love, freedom and never give up. Never.

We take it quite literally when Jesus says: “Be perfect, as your Father in heaven is perfect.” Or when Buddha affirms that we too have Buddha nature. That we too can choose to be bodhisattvas.

YES – Like that. A Boddisattva, that’s what we can choose to become. Or any other ideal.

The dedicated energy type is the psychological function that takes us beyond one limit after another by committing ourselves to the very special values and goals that our hearts are passionate about.

The Seventh Ray: Manifestation, Organization and Synthesis

The seventh ray brings all that the other six have created into a focused creative expression. It is the innermost longing to see heaven on earth. It is this energy that many of the great kings and builders have been inspired by. The cathedrals, palaces and monuments of the past testify to an inconceivable inherent creative urge in man. The vision that lived in the enlightened minds of these builders was to give physical form to a spiritual idea or experience. The sky-striking vaults of the cathedrals are a direct reflection of the enormous inner sacred space that reveals itself to the mystic. It is also an attempt to instill the awe that the mystic experiences face to face with God and that the churchgoer experiences in the encounter with the cathedral.

From this perspective, only that which is physically manifest is real. This does not mean that this force is materialistic. It transcends into the heart of the universal will, but only to carry that will out into the physical through law and order. If universal love, beauty and truth are the universal will, then it must be included in the legislation, the values and the principles by which we live and work. The United Nations is precisely a physical organization of the many nations of humanity around the central idea that humanity is one big family. A step has been taken in the right direction, although the goal is far from being reached.

In a sense, the intention of the seventh ray is one of the most difficult to fulfill, because everything must be made manifest, everything must be embodied physically. On the individual level, all the energies inherent in our nature must be integrated through a tireless and purposeful process if our goal is to become Spirit-in-action. All our mental, emotional and physical energies must surrender to the central will in man, the focused consciousness that sets the course. When this is done, we gain character and charisma. The seventh ray is the force that, from a holistic perspective, creates a synthesis out of all the different aspects of the personality.

However, it is only through the King and Queen Self within our hearts that we have the power and dignity to bring such a grand project to fruition. This royal Self insists on royal surroundings and grand conduct from all souls tuned to this frequency. We know that we serve something greater than ourselves. We are representatives of the One Life itself. From this stream we speak less and act more.

From a center of consciousness charged with royal life force, we lovingly but firmly demand that all that we contain shall find its true and valued place and function in the whole. We therefore begin the long and magical process of gathering our inner kingdom, ie integrating our personality around the highest values. This is the inner work that produces a noble character, but also the experience of flow of being when everything is aligned under the same purpose and expresses itself in complete harmony and balance.

If we surf the superficial stream, we buy identity through material things that ooze “royalty”, but end up like Jeppe på Bjerget, without substance in the packaging. We may also behave classily, say the right things, converse intelligently, but royalty cannot be bought. The lack of generosity, surplus, mercy and wisdom will always reveal itself – if we don’t do the Yoga!

In the outer, we take responsibility through the seventh ray for bringing the highest truth we can embrace into a creative life project. We know that the world must be organized, integrated and united under the highest values that we as a group or humanity can agree on. This is the group will, but one thing is intention, another is reality. Therefore, the seventh life stream stimulates us to bring law and order completely into everyday life, so that the group will break through where the reluctance is greatest. It requires incredibly well-coordinated work to make a dream a reality, because comfort land insists on the security of the known.

All forces must cooperate if Utopia is to be realized. It is in reality a cooperation that includes both the outer and inner spiritual forces. The vertical contact creates a cooperation with the spiritual forces and through this an inflow of continuous inspiration. The horizontal cooperation with people around us creates the outer organization so that we manifest the hermetic principle: “as above, so below, as within, so without”.

The seventh ray also provides insight into the laws of creation, the carefully and scientifically planned process from idea, mental processing, emotional experience and physical action.

It is through this creative process where everything from the unifying intention is built, coordinated and unfolded in a physical expression that we achieve the synthesis where 1+1 becomes 3. It is magic.

The question now is: How big do we dare to think? How much do we want to take responsibility for? When do we start?

The practical energy type is the psychological function that can bring heaven down to earth. The seven energy types are seen in the above light, the seven psychological functions that translate the seven cosmic rays into practical concrete manifestations in our everyday lives. Thus, “what is above also becomes below and what is below becomes above”.

We are Spirit-in-action and destined to unfold omnipotence, omnipresence and omniscience. No one has ever become great by claiming their smallness. It is often a cover for the convenience associated with mediocrity. The journey has begun and we are on it. Now it is just a question of whether we can say like Buzz Lightyear: Into infinity and beyond!
